Bathroom Breaks
1. Line up in a silent, straight line. (procedure for
lines)
2. Enter the bathroom quietly.
3. Use facilities, flush.
4. Wash hands with soap and water.
5. Dry hands and throw paper towel in the trash.
6. Quietly and immediately return to the line and wait
patiently for everyone to return.
7. Walk in a silent, straight line back to the classroom.
8. Sit down at your seat and wait silently for the next
direction.

Bathroom Breaks Individually
1. Raise your hand to ask for permission to use the
bathroom.
2. Sign your name and the time you are leaving in the
notebook under today’s date.
3. Walk silently and immediately to the bathroom not
stopping at lockers, etc.
4. Use the facilities, flush.
5. Wash hands with soap and water.
6. Dry hands and throw paper towel in the trash.
7. Return immediately to the classroom silently, not
stopping at lockers etc.
8. Sign back in with the time you returned in the
notebook.
9. Return to seat or work area silently.

Lining up
1. Wait for the signal to line up.
2. One table at a time, get up and push in your chair.
3. Walk quietly to the designated line area.
4. Stand, facing forward, behind the student in front of
you quietly. Hands and feet to yourself.
5. Listen for directions for the destination.
6. Walk politely, giving personal space to others,
quietly -no sounds- all the way there.
7. Listen for directions on what to do once you have
arrived at the destination.

Morning Arrival Routine
1. Place your bookbag in your locker.
2. Bring into class, water bottle, snack, homework, and
planner.
3. Put your snack into your tub for later.
4. Place planner, water bottle and 5 subject notebook
at your spot.
5. Put homework, notes, lunch envelopes in basket by
the teacher’s desk.
6. Get a chair and push it in at your spot.
7. Sign up for lunch. (See lunch procedure)
8. Walk down the hall quietly to go outside to play.

Morning Routine
1. Walk into the room quietly and respectfully.
2. If you have just arrived, follow the morning arrival
routine.
3. Open your planner to the correct page and begin
writing in today’s planner page and question. If it is
Monday, write in your new spelling words in the
spelling column of the planner.
4. Make sure you have a sharpened pencil and eraser.
5. Look on the board to see if you will need any
additional materials, books, supplies for today.
6. Choose a book to read out of the book box at your
table.

Signing Up for Lunch
1. Read the menu to see what is the main choice for
the day. The second and third choices will be listed
on the side of the menu.
2. Choose a green slip if you want the main choice and
put it into the card holder with your name on it.
3. Choose a yellow slip if you would like second choice
and put it into the card holder with your name on it.
4. Choose a blue slip if you would like the third choice
and put it into the card holder with your name on it.
5. Choose a brown slip if you brought your own lunch
today and put it into the card holder with your
name on it.
6. Return to your seat and follow morning routine
procedure.

snack
1. Your snack is for snack time. It will be placed in
your tub until it is time for snack.
2. I will tell you when it is snack time.
3. Wash your hands or use germ-x. The “germ-x
student” will come around with a squirt.
4. You may share your snack but you cannot trade
your snack.
5. We do not beg or ask people to give us their snacks.
I will have something for you.
6. When snack time is over, clean up any mess or
wrappers, containers or crumbs you may have.
7. Return unfinished snacks to your tub.

Water/Drinks
1. You are allowed to have a water bottle/container at
your desk. Cups don’t work out.
2. Only water is allowed in the classroom. Other
drinks will be stored in your locker for you to enjoy
at recess outside.
3. Destruction of your water bottle or container is
not allowed and it will be removed.
4. Playing with or being distracted by your water
bottle will cause your water to be stored by the
sink area.
5. Raise your hand if you need to go to the sink to
refill your bottle/container. You will be able to go at
an appropriate time.
6. One person at a time is allowed to get a drink or
refill their container.

Drinks from the Fountain
1. Raise your hand for permission to get a drink. You
will be able to go at an appropriate time.
2. Quietly walk over to the fountain being careful not
to disturb anyone.
3. One person is allowed at a time in the sink area.
4. Get a drink.
5. Return quietly to your work area.
6. In the hallway, line up along the walls to allow
passing traffic.
7. Drink for 5 “Mississippi’s” and if you are still
thirsty, get back in line.
8. Do not touch anyone while they are drinking.
9. Whisper in the hallway.
10. Return to the class line immediately.

Lunch
1. Cold lunch students may quietly go get their lunches and
line up silently at the door.
2. Main choice students may get up and push in their chairs.
They may be called up by groups by the line leader.
3. Second choice students stand up and push in their chairs.
They may be called up by the line leader. They can get a
blue ticket out of the ticket bin.
4. Third choice students stand up and push in their chairs.
They may be called up by groups by the line leader. They
may get their tickets out of the ticket bin.
5. I will come and squirt germ-x on your hands unless you
prefer to wash with soap and water.
6. When the line is quiet, facing forward and ready, we will
walk to the cafeteria.
7. Wait quietly and patiently in line.
8. Sit at a table with your lunch.
9. Speak in low conversational voices.
10. Clean up after yourself.
11. Walk respectfully down hallway Go to your locker and get
your things to play outside.

Lining Up after Recess
1. Line up when you hear the whistle blow.
2. Make sure you gather up any equipment you
brought outside.
3. Follow the procedure for lining up.
4. Fall silent and make your body still.
5. Walk silently into the building.
6. Return equipment respectfully.
7. Put all coats, boots, hats, gloves, personal items
into your locker.
8. Whisper, others are learning!
9. Shut your locker quietly.
10. Return quietly to your desk and wait for
directions.

Inside Recess
1. Choose a quiet activity to play by yourself or with
a friend.
2. We will not play running, throwing or shouting
games.
3. Some choices are checkers, chess, tic tac toe,
coloring, cards, drawing, Legos, flash cards, board
games or puzzles. You may draw on the board or
play word games with teacher permission.
4. When recess is over, return materials back to
where they belong. Return all the pieces of your
game carefully back in the box or tub. Return to
the cupboard responsibly. Please do not shove or
throw games into the box. Legos must be taken
apart at last recess.
5. Return quietly to your seat and wait for directions.

1. I will dismiss one table at a time to go and get text
books.
2. Quietly wait until the person in front of you has
gotten out of the way to get your books.
3. Return to your seat and open your book to the
correct page/lesson.
4. Look over the lesson until everyone has their books.
5. I will dismiss one table at a time to return the text
books.
6. Carefully stack them neatly on the shelf in their
appropriate spot.

Small Group Work
1. Report to the free help table quietly and quickly
with all needed materials.
2. While I am working with a small group, the rest of
the class will be finishing work or going to centers.
3. Be sure you are quiet and respectful.
4. Ask 3 before me.
5. Use polite words, “Excuse me, Mrs. Preston,” if you
absolutely need me.

Share A Story Show and tell
1. When given the signal to move, go and get your
snack from your tub.
2. Go back to the carpet and sit on the floor.
3. You should not be touching other people.
4. Sit quietly and look at the share a story student.
5. Listen respectfully the whole time.
6. Raise your hand to ask questions. Take turns.
7. Clean up your area. Take care of wrappers,
containers and crumbs.
8. Return uneaten snack back to your tub.
9. Return quietly to your desk.

Preparing for Home
1. One table at a time, put away any text books,
materials or supplies appropriately in their
designated spot.
2. Put planner, homework and leftover snacks,
containers in a stack on your desk.
3. Messenger will collect bus notes and slips.
4. One group at a time will pick up 20 things off of the
floor.
5. If you have a job, now is the time to quietly do it.
6. Sit when these tasks are done, please.
7. Each group will be dismissed to get their items
from their lockers.
8. Stack chairs at each group set.
9. Pack planner, homework and leftover snack into
bookbags.
10. Wait quietly while we line up in bus order to
walk calmly and quietly down the hallway.

Time Out
1. You will move your chair to the back of the room.
2. You will be responsible for doing the classwork and
listening to the lesson.
3. You will not interact with any classmates.
4. You will not be able to participate in class
activities until your time out is finished.
5. Think about what happened and why you chose to be
in time out.
6. We are happy to have you back when you are truly
ready.

Class supplies
1. When using crayons, do not shove the crayon back
in the box. Shake the box and the crayon will slip
back in.
2. when using markers, put the caps back on and
return to the marker box or bag. Keep the colors
together in the correct container. Do not press
hard or the tip will break.
3. When using glue, twist the top closed when finished.
Make sure any extra glue is wiped off the top. Also,
as little glue as possible. You are gluing paper not
cement!
4. Return supplies to correct bin.
5. Use scissors on paper only. Return to bin.

Library
1. Bring back library books before library day.
2. The library is a very quiet place that we share with
everybody. Whisper when you are there.
3. We always walk in the library.
4. Use a book marker to pull books off the shelf.
5. You may check out a total of 3 books at a time.
6. Stand quietly and patiently in the check out line.
7. Write your name on the card while in line.
8. Sit down at assigned tables to read if you are
checked out or just looking.

Classroom Library
1. Choose a good fit book.
2. Keep it safely in your tub.
3. Be careful not to bend the cover or pages.
4. When you are finished put it back in the place that
you found it. Most books are stored by genre.
5. If you would like to take it home, you need to sign it
out with me.
6. Some books are to stay in the classroom. (My sets
of Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Narnia, etc.)

1. Begin with lining up in the room or from where you
are leaving to come back.
2. Everyone is behind someone.
3. Face forward.
4. Hands and feet are to be kept to yourself.
5. No sounds.
6. Walk all the way.

Walking in the Hallway without the class
1. Walk all the way without speaking.
2. Keep hands and feet to yourself.
3. Go and return without delay.
4. Enter a room politely.

Using Whiteboards
1. Take turns selecting a whiteboard.
2. Choose a marker and eraser.
3. See if the marker works and then put the cap back
on it.
4. Raise your hand if you need a new marker.
5. Wait for directions to begin writing on the
whiteboard.
6. Drawing pictures and coloring on your whiteboard
makes our markers run out faster and we only have
so many.
7. When it is time to put them away, make sure you
have erased your whiteboard completely.
8. Return marker (with cap on tightly) and eraser to
correct bin.
9. Stack your whiteboard neatly in the center of your
group.

Using Whiteboards
1. Take turns selecting a whiteboard.
2. Choose a marker and eraser.
3. See if the marker works and then put the cap back
on it.
4. Raise your hand if you need a new marker.
5. Wait for directions to begin writing on the
whiteboard.
6. Drawing pictures and coloring on your whiteboard
makes our markers run out faster and we only have
so many.
7. When it is time to put them away, make sure you
have erased your whiteboard completely.
8. Return marker (with cap on tightly) and eraser to
correct bin.
9. Stack your whiteboard neatly in the center of your
group.
