We have a couple of new fun learning activities going on! First of all, your child was placed on a team that is being supported by either Mr. Howard, Ms. Ginther, Mrs. Case, Mrs. Schillinger or Mrs. Thuemmel/Mrs. Liedke. They are having a competition to try and get to be the most improved team for progress in Reflex math with multiplication/division facts. The staff members are going to check in on how they are progressing every day!
Another fun idea we came up with to learn new vocabulary words was a “students vs. the teacher”challenge. Five students a day will try to stump me with the meaning of an interesting word they find in their reading . The way it works is your child will find a word they think I don’t know. They will teach it to the class when I’m out of the room. I will randomly choose a competitor and your child will see if I can guess the meaning of the word. If I cannot, and my competitor can, they both win a prize! We are keeping track of all the great new words we find!
Governor Snyder proclaimed January 20th as Volunteer Grandparent Day. We have a wonderful foster grandparent named Grandma Lu. The kids adore her and she is a tremendous help! I am going send home some paper and supplies so they can make her a card at home. They can tell her how much she is appreciated and thanks for all her help.I want it to be a surprise! We will have a little celebration on the 20th with a certificate and a little cake. Please tell your child to keep it a surprise!
Warrior of the Month

Jack Zimmerman
Jack was voted Warrior of the month by his classmates! He earned this honor for being kind to everybody. Many of his classmates wrote that he deserved this honor! They also said he was a really great friend. Jack is always coming up with really great ideas and is a natural leader. He is always responsible and respectful. Way to go Jack!
